Letsencrypt works beautifully and effortlessly (yay!) for my only lonely standalone website.
However all my other sites are in networks that I have created using WordPress in multisites mode on a variety of VMs (some have been upgraded several times since lenny)
Each network has its own IP.
Seems like symbiosis does not automatically create the ssl blurb for the my-new-network.uk.conf as it does on the lonesome-standalone-domain.uk.conf file in sites-enabled.
In the old days I may have had to modify the conf file, but I am pretty sure all the recent VMs and networks have magically done the business and created Server Alias lines. In most cases I will use an A record to point to the relevant IP address and a sym link to the network seems required, though not always and has puzzled me.
So what to do to get SSL working for all my networks?
A typical network domain structure of a network of sites might look like:
2) news.my-new-network.uk or my-new-network.uk/news
and so much like wordpress.com
I am assuming that a single cert will cope with multiple sites in cases 1 and 2 sites using the same domain, but wasn't sure about case 3 (though the more I read the more it sounds like it should now be possible ??).
I hope the question is clear enough, even useful for others who use multisites or considering them, and that I am not being completely stupid and overlooked something blindingly obvious.
Or do I need to be thinking about moving on from symbiosis? It has served me very well so far.
Practical pointers very welcome
